Our School Day
Our school days at St Joseph's are always varied and filled with different activities. Each Key Stage group have different timings for the day, as shown below.
KS1 will enter via Gate 3A (near Year 1 classrooms) and KS2 will enter via the staff carpark gate. It is hoped that there will be a natural filtering in, and parents will no longer need to wait around for long lengths of time. The gates will open at 8:40am and will close promptly at 9:00am.
From Monday 14th September, KS1 children can be collected from the lower playground:
Year 1 at 3:05pm and Year 2 at 3:15pm.
KS2 children can be collected from the astroturf:
Years 3 & 4 at 3:05pm, and Years 5 & 6 at 3:15pm.
For Key Stage One the school day starts at 8.50am and ends at 3.05pm. Break time is at 10.30am to 10.45am and lunch is at 11.45am to 1.00pm.
For Key Stage Two the school day starts at 8.50am and ends at 3.15pm. Break time is also between 10.30am and 10.45am, while lunch is between 12.15pm and 1.20pm.
The school is responsible for supervision of children ten minutes before and after these school times.
Year 1 - Year 6 children are able to go straight into their classrooms unaccompanied from 8.40am to 8.50am. The duty teachers will be on the KS1 & KS2 playgrounds at 8.40am.
Prayer and Worship
As a Catholic school, collective worship and assemblies form an integral part of our school day. The class assembly held on a Thursday is the one that parents and carers of the children in that class are invited to attend once a term.
All pupils are expected to attend assemblies and services as they form an integral part of the religious life of our school, but parents do have the right to withdraw children from assemblies should they wish to do so. Please contact the Headteacher in these circumstances.
Lunchtime
As a key part of the day, there is a whole page of the site dedicated to lunchtime!
At the end of the day children must be collected promptly from the lower playground.
