Catholic School Inspection – We are GOOD

Dear Parents and Carers,

We are pleased to attach the finalised Catholic School Inspection Report (CSI). The inspection took place on the 7th and 8th of February 2024. The school was inspected under the new national framework and the inspection was carried out by three trained inspectors.

We are pleased with the report and feel that the team were able to get to know the community of St Joseph’s over the two days they were in school with us.

During the inspection the inspection team carried out many activities in order to form their judgements: The inspection team went into every year group to observe RE teaching and collective worship, took the opportunity to attend two assemblies as well as talk to groups of children from across the school, reviewed the comments from the parental and staff survey and spoke to a group of parents and staff, looked at a large sample from across the school of the children’s work books, reviewed the minutes from governors’ meetings and met with school governors.

We found the team to be professional and courteous and we felt we were able to engage in positive dialogue about the strengths of the school as well as the areas that could be further developed.

I hope you enjoy reading the report and will feel as proud as we do of the children of St Joseph’s. They truly are a privilege to teach and a credit to their families and teachers.

I would like to thank Mrs Fiona McGrath for the work that she has put in, and continues to do, as the school’s RE lead. The report very much reflects her drive and passion for RE and how she has supported and lead teachers to deliver high quality teaching. She has been ably supported by Mrs Tina Osman who has led on developing collective worship as well as spear heading Catholic Social Teaching principles across the school. Thank you to Mrs Lucy Barnes, our school chaplain, for the work she does to support spirituality and catholic life and mission. It was a true team effort and I would like to thank all staff for their dedicated commitment to the ethos of the school.
